Jaltemba Rotary Club is adopting the small river that runs by the sewer treatment plant, in an effort to clean up the bay, and keep it safe for tourists, and to restore corals around Coral Island. The adopt a river program is part of one of the 17 United Nations Sustainability Goals for the year 2030. El Club Rotario de Jaltemba está adoptando el pequeño río que corre junto a la planta de tratamiento de aguas residuales, en un esfuerzo por limpiar la bahía y mantenerla segura para los turistas, y para restaurar los corales alrededor de Coral Island. El programa adopte un río es parte de uno de los 17 Objetivos de Sostenibilidad de las Naciones Unidas para el año 2030. This past April, we had a meeting with Jaime. He is in charge of SIAPA for the Jaltemba Bay Area. The sewer treatment plant was not finished by the end of April, but according to Jaime, the part that was scheduled for repair has been completed as of mid May. The smell will diminish as the necessary bacteria builds up in the plant. Our Club is monitoring the water quality both in the river, and in the bay, to insure that the bay will be clean enough for tourists, and for our coral restoration program, that is being completed by the University of Guadalajara. El pasado abril tuvimos una reunión con Jaime. Está a cargo del SIAPA para el Área de la Bahía de Jaltemba. La planta de tratamiento de alcantarillado no estaba terminada a fines de abril, pero según Jaime, la parte que estaba programada para reparar se completó a mediados de mayo.
