The Big Event- El Gran Evento
The Big Event was a huge success. We all had a lot of fun, and most important, we raised a lot of money for the projects that benefit Jaltemba bay’s community. Please have a look at this short Face book video. It shows the fun.

A new Kindergarten in Los Ayala– Un nuevo Jardín Infantil en Los Ayala.
It was very complicated to have so many children in such a small space. They hardly learned because there were 3 grades in a single space, the children from the Amado Nervo kindergarten entered primary school with a disadvantage compared to children who attended from other institutions. Jaltemba Bay rotary Club partnered with the Berkley California Rotary Club and built a beautiful place for these children to learn. In the process, the Berkley Club also helped finance school furniture for CONAFE schools in the area.
Era muy complicado tener a tantos niños en un espacio tan reducido. Casi no aprendian por que estaban 3 grados en un solo espacio los niños del jardin de niños Amado Nervo ingresaban a la primaria con un resago en comparacion con niños que asistian de otras instituciones. El Club Rotario de Jaltemba Bay se asoció con el Club Rotario de Berkley California y construyó un hermoso lugar para que estos niños aprendan. En el proceso, el Berkley Club también ayudó a financiar mobiliario escolar para las escuelas de CONAFE de la zona.

At the party we raised 27,000 pesos to support this project. Thank you everyone for your support of education. Education builds bridges to a better future for everyone in the Jaltemba Bay area. Some of these funds will be spent at a local welding shop to finish the bookcases.
En la fiesta recaudamos 27.000 pesos para apoyar este proyecto. Gracias a todos por su apoyo a la educación. La educación tiende puentes hacia un futuro mejor para todos en el área de la Bahía de Jaltemba. Parte de estos fondos se gastarán en un taller de soldadura local para terminar las estanterías.

Coral Restoration:
We still have a Coral Restoration Project on the books for Coral Island. At this time I need to tell you that the ocean was the warmest it has ever been in recorded history, and coral bleaching was an incredible problem all around the world. The Biologists from Guadalajara are very busy trying to deal with the destruction of reefs on the west coast. For this reason we may not start the project this year. We also need to know that the water flowing into Jaltemba Bay is clean enough to start the project. The Main parts of the waste water treatment plant have been repaired, and it appears as if they are maintaining the plant. However, Jaltemba Bay is growing, and we need to keep working on this problem. I would like to thank Jaltemba Bay Rotary, and Consejo Ciudadano de Agua de la Bahia de Jaltemba, for keeping pressure on our local and state government so these repairs could happen. Now we need to make sure that the program is not abandoned, and that it continues to grow. The Coral Restoration project gives us a reason to keep the bay clean enough to grow corals, and the tourist industry as a result.
Todavía tenemos un Proyecto de Restauración de Coral en marcha para Coral Island. En este momento necesito decirles que el océano estaba más caliente que nunca en la historia y que el blanqueamiento de los corales era un problema increíble en todo el mundo. There is a man named Pedro who is making the rounds to pick up plastics to recycle. Last time I contacted him he was on his way to Guadalajara to sell the plastics at 1 peso per Kilo. Obviously, he can’t make money doing this, and he is asking you to subscribe to his service. Please contact him at this WhatsApp number if you are interested. Ryla Leadership Training- Capacitación en liderazgo de RYLA
On April 20 and 21, 2024 Jaltemba Bay Rotary Was given a grant by Montana District 5390 to teach students leadership skills. 48 Students attended this course. For more information, in English and Spanish, see our web page on the project.
